My last post showed the first nine projects from last week’s cutting and project prepping spree, which I sewed Saturday and Sunday. They went pretty fast because I started with the simpler projects and worked so I could minimize thread changes.
Now, I’m down to some of the bigger projects, and Monday turned into “Hot and Heavy” day…not as exciting as some people would think, but if you know By Annie, you know. I didn’t get anything done until evening given my summer-is-almost-over-and-I have-to-go-back-to-the-classroom procrastination. However, if you every thought about making two of pattern at once, go for it. I like to assembly line things when I can and since I could use the same lilac colored thread for both bags, I worked my way through both the small and the large Hot and Heavy bag and completed them in one evening. While I already have a big and little iron storage piece, I will find other uses for these beauties!

One thing I really like about these bags was how the zipper and binding application surrounding it went very smoothly by machine – some of the easiest and neatest ByAnnie binding I have done. For the rather thick inside bindings at the bottom, I did need to hand stitch a bit of it or I would have definitely busted some needles.
To recap, I cut that huge pile of fabric last week. I now have ELEVEN projects completed and I am down to the last THREE. Tonight, I plan to work on the Got Your Back 2.1 in the same set of fabrics as my larger Hot and Heavy, but with the lining and outside fabrics reversed (and different binding). Then I will have just two more bags to go.
If you are wondering how I do all of this so fast, I could do a separate post, but mainkly it comes down to being really organized, planning my workflow, and just being a fast sewist in general. I do this for fun. If it wasn’t fun, I wouldn’t do it!
